This recipe need salt! 1/2 a teaspoon in the batter and the caramel do the job just fine. As well as a teaspoon of baking soda in the batter.

I need help guys. Like the banana bread itself is good but the caramelization thingy, when I pour it in the pan, after a short while, it starts to get kinda gritty and stuff almost like the sugar didn't completely melt. It doesn't look creamy like in this video. So idk if I put too much sugar or something, help please!

Is it plain flour? Cos i tried this, and the bread part doesnt rise at all!!! 😅

If anyone is still checking out this recipe, I just made it taking into account all the comments. First, YES! you HAVE to grease your pan. Second, when making the caramel, let the sugar melt in the pan BEFORE adding the butter otherwise if your sugar doesn't properly melt you'll end up with a runny mess. And you need to add a TBS of milk right at the end for true caramel. Use about 1/2 cup less flour and add 1/2 tsp each of baking powder and soda. My bread rose nicely and moist, and the caramel was nice and gooey and clung to the bread and not the pan.

I have tried making this today but the butter-brown sugar mixture is way too bitter after it gets in the oven. If you're planning on making this I suggest you do it with just the cake and bananas without the butter-sugar mixture, and also try adding baking powder in the cake mixture as well.

I did this and added baking powder and it was perfect…..

But I didn’t grease the pan.

    Please kill me.

Tasty editors: please put waiting time between step 7 and 8. The caramel was so runny!!! Only 2 comments of 322 mentioned about wet caramel running on the sides – a disaster to an OCD person like me. Now I’m hopelessly waiting for a baking mess in the oven. 🙁

Can you make regular banana with walnuts video?

  22. Joyeeta Chakraborty says

I think you can skip the upside down bit, by baking the cake first and then topping it with a drizzle of honey n some sliced bananas. Easy and healthy. 🙂

Wasn't really a fan of this. Tasted okay but it was way too dense. I ended up adding baking powder and milk to some leftover batter and making pancakes with it, which turned out a lot better.

I would recommend to use 1 cup plain flour and 1 cup self raising flour for the mixture. And also like many other people have said… this makes alot more then 6-8 servings lol

    Enjoy!
